Less is definitely more!
The second biggest love in my life is Food. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you the same, you don’t get a nickname like ‘Gannet’ for nothing.
I am a former gymnast of 15 years who trained up to 20 hours a week; having parents with limited sports nutritional knowledge and a heavy Cornish liking for food, meant my build was not that typical of a gymnast. Due to the pressures of gymnastics, I was put on diets at early ages and constantly monitored, so my weight has always been an area of scrutiny. However, I was never an obese child or a teen that worried about my weight because of the emphasis in my sport.
At the age of 25, I decided that falling asleep at 9pm on the sofa, exercising 5 days a week, sometimes twice a day and an ever last tyre around my midriff, was something I wished to see in the past. I had heard of the ‘YanPlan’ and knew a few people who were on it, but thought that I knew best being a young ‘fit and healthy’ Sports Lecturer! Oh how little I knew. Emailing Yan was the best thing I did in 2013, and making the first appointment to meet him was probably the scariest!
Standing on the scales at 9 stone 11.8 lbs and a body fat percentage of 28, standing at a mere 5ft 1 was a little embarrassing to say the least. But after discussing my options, aims and goals with Yan and identifying a clear eating and exercise plan my body image was soon to change. The carb lover that I was, the plan seemed like hell on paper, but actually I love it; who wouldn’t love being told to eat more and exercise less? It was music to my ears.
I now eat 7 times a day, exercise 4 days a week (maximum training time of 30 minutes) and have energy levels through the roof. The ‘YanPlan’ has changed my perception of food and my carb cravings; after just 6 weeks on the plan and fortnightly meetings with Yan I have lost 11.6lbs in weight, 8% body fat, 8 cms off my hips and 9.5 cms off my waist! Going from a size 10/12 to a size 8 (I think) as I refuse to try on or buy new clothes until I hit my target of 17% body fat. The biggest change people around me have noticed (apart from the weight loss) especially my Fiancé is my energy levels, I am now not the one falling asleep on the sofa or feeling tired anymore, I have energy all day long. Also my training has improved, in the 6 weeks on the ‘Plan’ my upper and lower body strength has seen massive improvements and my swimming has improved by 200 metres in the same training time. The best thing of all, I am now the proud owner of a flat (not perfect) but flat stomach and NO love handles!
Overall the ‘YanPlan’ has re-educated me and trained my body to utilise vital methods to gain the best results! It is not for the fad dieters as it is a complete lifestyle change, and I am now a changed person. I am defiantly going to be looking my best ever, in my wedding dress in 18 weeks’ time. Thanks Yan.
